Why You Need to See a Chiropractor for Sciatica | Align Wellness Center in Northbrook, IL

– Hey, it’s Dr. Gregg Gerstin
with Align Wellness Center, and I wanted to ask a
frequently asked question. Can chiropractic help with sciatica? Well, first of all, let’s
talk about what sciatica is. So, the sciatic nerve is a
nerve that runs down the back of the leg all the way down to the foot. It’s a really big nerve and
it helps the legs to know what to do, as well as
when it’s broken down. One of the things that can often happen with the sciatic nerve, is
that it either runs through, above, or below a small
muscle in the butt area. Goes between your sacrum and your hip, called the piriformus muscle. Now, it can wind up getting compressed, depending on where it is, and it’s equally divided
into three placements. The sciatic nerve as well,
can wind up having difficulty in getting messages from
the lower back, so sciatica winds up being a very
complicated issue in terms of figuring out exactly
where the problem stems from. Now, if you think that
you may have sciatica, a great thing to do is
get it checked by someone who knows what they’re looking for, and a chiropractor is
someone who specializes in understanding the spine
and the nervous system, and can help you decipher what’s going on. Is it something to do with
that piriformus muscle? Is it something to do
with the lumbar spine, and potentially a disc? Or is it both? I’m Dr. Gregg Gerstin
and I’m a chiropractor, and I’ve helped hundreds of
people who have had problems that look like, sound like,
and feel like sciatica, get rid of them for good, and change their life for the future. Once again, if you’d like
to see if there’s something that can be done to help it, please, give our office a call,
email me down below. If you like this video,
or you know someone who has sciatica, please,
pass this along to them. Maybe this will give them
some of the information and encouragement to get rid of it, so their future looks way
better than their past. Once again, I’m Dr. Greg
Gerstin with Align Wellness.
