Become a nurse – study a Master of Nursing

So the Master of Nursing (Graduate Entry)
degree is a two-year course, upon completion of the course they’re
eligible to apply as a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of
Australia. So students can now study this course from either the West Main
Precinct or the Malet Street Campus at Camperdown. They’re walking alongside and working with expert clinicians, patients, their families, all the hospital
staff. They’re really embedded in an area that’s centred around research, clinical
excellence and education as well. It’s never too late to change your options
or change your career path. I did my Bachelor’s in Biotechnology. I was really
excited to hear that the opportunity of a Graduate Program. You can do a Master’s because you already have a Bachelor’s degree. It doesn’t matter what you have
done before because it’s two years it’s also packed and makes everyday exciting. The great thing about nursing is that you can go in a million different areas, so
students can enter into Pediatrics settings. They can go into theatre,
emergency nursing, they’re can go CareFlight, they can do international aid, they can work
on a level that affects policy, you can work as clinical nurse consultants,
specialist, you can go into education, academia, research. So the amount of
possibilities with a nursing degree is endless. Next thing I think gives you a chance to
interact with people. I initially did business degree. I started working in
freight forwarding logistics. One day I was just sitting in my office and I just
didn’t like what I was doing. I sat down I can’t do this for the next five
years. My first placement was at the geriatrics
ward and my second placement I went to the surgical ward. Every ward I go to is so
exciting and I want to go anywhere. The teachers here are very involved, you
know, they’re really passionate about their subjects. It’s been challenging because I think their
passion, sort of like, drives us and encourages us. I think if you’re a
highly determined person and you can see the difference that healthcare makes
then I think this course is for you.
